7-Month Old Baby Dies After Mother Forgot She Left Him Outside In Freezing Snow For Five Hours

A newborn froze to death after mom left him for five hours on the balcony.

As per police reports, the boy died after being exposed to a freezing 19 degrees Fahrenheit for five hours in Khabarovsk, eastern Russia. This was after his mom put him outside to ‘sleep in the fresh air.’

Local media reported that his mom placed him outside on the balcony, expecting to pick him up within a few minutes. However, she forgot about him, only to remember five hours later.

When she finally brought him inside, the baby didn’t show any ‘signs of life,’ and she couldn’t revive him.

Doctors later revealed that the boy died of hypothermia, a condition that occurs when the body loses heat faster than it can produce it.

Once a person’s temperature falls below a certain level, many vital functions stop, leading to death.

According to the reports, taking young kids outdoors to help them sleep isn’t uncommon in countries with colder climates.

Parents in Nordic countries such as Finland and Norway believe this helps their children sleep better.

The idea also revolves around the belief that exposing kids to fresh air can help them avoid catching colds and coughs.

But following this incident, the region’s health ministry warned parents never to leave their children outside alone.

Posting on Instagram, the ministry said:

“Always know where and with whom [your child] is.”

“Do not pass by if another child is in danger. In winter, a child who is lost or injured on the street can very quickly become a victim of low temperatures.”

The ministry added that kids in the Khabarovsk region were becoming victims of parental ‘ignorance and negligence’ of ‘basic safety measures more frequently.’

Some of the most common incidents involve burns, falls from a height or injuries due to improper use of fireworks.

The ministry concluded by advising parents to drink less alcohol and carefully monitor their children.

The news on the toddlers’ death sparked outrage online, as many people condemn the mom for her fatal irresponsible mistake.

One person said:

“This baby didn’t deserve this…WTF is wrong with people nowadays… I feel sorry for the women who can’t have babies, and then they see this… R. I. P. Baby… now you’re one of God’s Beautiful.”

Another wrote:
