90-year-old man waits almost 2 years for city to remove dead tree in front of his Houston home

An elderly man is worried about a dead tree that could potentially cause damage during severe storms. The man, Jody Junious, has been waiting for almost 2 years for the city to remove the tree.
Despite contacting 311 multiple times, he has received little help. The tree has also caused damage to Junious’s fence, and poses a hazard to the neighborhood.
The city was first alerted about the issue in 2019, but it was only in August 2022 that the tree was deemed dead.
Despite receiving emails from 311 that the issue was resolved, Junious and his daughter Loretta Applin have received a “raw deal”.
The city spokesperson blamed a contractor backlog and assured them the tree will be removed by Saturday or Monday at the latest.
