Alvin Kamara and Three Others Face Serious Charges in Las Vegas Assault Case

Four men, including New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara, have been indicted by a grand jury for allegedly assaulting a man at a Las Vegas nightclub in February 2022. The other men charged are cornerback Chris Lammons of the Cincinnati Bengals, along with two other unnamed individuals. All four were charged with conspiracy to commit battery and battery, resulting in serious bodily harm.

Kamara’s attorneys released a statement saying that he intends to contest the charges and that “the state avoided a contested preliminary hearing by charging Mr. Kamara. He intends to vigorously combat the allegations at trial as he was defending himself and others at the time of the incident.”

The case will now move from Las Vegas Justice Court to District Court on March 2. Kamara received no punishment from the NFL as a result of the hearings, deferring a possible suspension to the 2023 season or beyond.

In October, the man who claims to have been assaulted, Darnell Greene Jr., filed a civil lawsuit against Kamara. The lawsuit alleges that Kamara and the three other men punched and stomped on Greene while he was lying unconscious on the ground outside the nightclub on the morning of February 5, 2022, the night before the Pro Bowl. Greene is seeking a trial by jury and is asking for a minimum of $10 million in compensatory and punitive damages.

Kamara, 27, is a five-time Pro Bowl pick and had 897 rushing yards and two touchdowns in 15 games last season. He also caught 57 passes for 490 yards and two touchdowns. Lammons was recently released from waivers by the Bengals.
