White House said that President of United States of America, Joe Biden have spoken to Brittney Griner’s wife about WNBA star’s detention in Russia.
This is coming after the WNBA star Brittney Griner sent a letter to the White House asking President Biden to help with bringing her home.
According to report sighted on CNN, the White House says President Biden and Vice President Harris have spoken to Brittney’s wife Cherelle Griner following her letter.
“The President called Cherelle to reassure her that he is working to secure Brittney’s release as soon as possible, as well as the release of Paul Whelan and other US nationals who are wrongfully detained or held hostage in Russia and around the world. He also read her a draft of the letter the President is sending to Brittney Griner today.”
“President Biden offered his support to Cherelle and Brittney’s family, and he committed to ensuring they are provided with all possible assistance while his administration pursues every avenue to bring Brittney home.”
