Body of missing 2-year-old Nadia Lee believed to have been located in Pasadena bayou

The tragedy surrounding the disappearance of 2-year-old Nadia Lee has come to a heartbreaking end. Houston police announced the discovery of remains believed to be Nadia’s in a bayou in Pasadena on Monday. Authorities are still awaiting autopsy results to confirm the identity of the body.

Nadia was last seen on October 16, in her father Jyron Charles Lee’s care. Lee had lived with Nadia and his common-law wife, Nancy Reed, at an apartment complex in the 300 block of South Richey Street in Pasadena. On the same day, Reed was found unresponsive in a hotel room on Bay Area Blvd. She had called 911 earlier in the evening to report a dispute over child custody with Jyron.

Officers arrived at the scene and settled the situation. However, later that evening, Jyron called police, reporting that Reed was trying to discipline one of the children, and he thought she was choking the child. He then put her into a chokehold, and she went unconscious. Two other girls were present in the hotel room at the time – aged 1 and 3 – but were unharmed. Nadia, however, was missing.

Reed was pronounced dead at the hospital with signs of trauma to her neck. Jyron was detained, and further investigation led to him being charged with her murder. His current bond is set at $1.85 million.

Nadia’s disappearance had been the subject of a desperate search until the tragic discovery on Monday. It is a heartbreaking reminder of the devastating impact of domestic violence and child abuse. Our thoughts and prayers are with Nadia’s family as they deal with the heartbreaking realization that their little girl is no longer with them. May Nadia Lee rest in peace.
