The driver of a car was found dead in the burning vehicle late Friday night, Chicago authorities said.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene in an alley near the 5400 block of West Jackson Boulevard in the city’s Austin neighborhood.
The unidentified man was still in the driver’s seat of the burning vehicle when officers arrived, according to police.
He was reportedly traveling southbound in the alley with a passenger who survived the tragedy. The passenger informed detectives that the car caught flames when it struck a pole.
