Cop shot his wife in her face and hand with a rifle
A Houston police officer has lost his job after he allegedly shot his wife in her face and hand with a rifle last week.
Authorities said that 31-year-old Galib Waheed Chowdhury was charged with aggravated assault of a family member with bodily harm over the June 12 incident.
Chowdhury’s wife, Sadaf Iqbal, was found with gunshot wounds in her face and hand inside the couple’s apartment on Clay Road.
The woman was taken to a local hospital where she underwent surgery. Her current condition is unknown.
“Galib Chowdhury has been terminated and is no longer a Houston police officer, effective today,” the Houston Police Department said in a statement on Tuesday.
“The criminal case is in the hands of the court & criminal justice system. Our hearts remain with the victim, Sadaf Iqbal. We ask the community to pray for her and her family.”
