Inmate hangs himself in cell

Authorities in St. Paul, the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, and the Minnesota Department of Public Safety are investigating the death of an inmate who was found hanging in his cell at Lac qui Parle county jail.
60-year-old Dennis Eugene Kipp was discovered dead in his cell on Saturday just before 4 p.m., authorities said.
Investigators believe Kipp took his own life as he was the only person housed in the cell.
The inmate was arrested for drug charges in Big Stone County and then transferred to the Lac qui Parle County prison.
The BCA was requested to conduct an investigation into Kipp’s death.
Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage from the facility as they await the Midwest Medical Examiner’s report.
