Man killed on Southwest Freeway near Bissonnet Street

Late on Monday night, a driver in Houston reportedly hit a man on the Southwest Freeway and fled the scene without rendering any assistance. The incident occurred in the southbound lanes of the freeway, between Bissonnet Street and Beltway 8, and was reported just before midnight. According to the Houston police, prior to the accident, two brothers were parked on the service road, one of whom was visibly upset. The police stated that the brother threw a pallet into traffic and then ended up on the mainlanes of the freeway. The victim, said to be in his 20s, died at the scene after being hit by a white pickup truck that fled the scene.

The authorities are currently searching for the driver and the pickup truck, which is believed to have sustained heavy front-end and windshield damage. Police are appealing to the public to come forward with any information regarding the pickup truck involved in the crash. Meanwhile, the detectives are reviewing surveillance footage from a nearby business to help identify the truck and the driver who fled the scene.

Several vehicles that stopped near the scene were reportedly disabled by debris from the pallet, but were not involved in the accident. The police are urging anyone with information relating to the incident to contact the HPD Hit and Run Unit at (713)247-4072.
