Mom Goes Viral on TikTok for Going Back to Work 12 Days After Giving Birth – Gets Massive Support

Motherhood is difficult, demanding, and taxing on even the most capable mothers. No mother should be forced to return to work only a few days after giving birth. Maternity leave is necessary because babies rely on their mothers to grow and nurture them.
Rebecca, a 26-year-old American, is the subject of today’s article. She made a film and published it on TikTok, a truly heartbreaking movie that shows her working and being unable to be with her daughter in the NICU due to the system’s inefficiency.
Eden, Rebecca’s baby, was delivered at 27 weeks prematurely. Eden was placed in the NICU to help her develop because she was born prematurely. That is difficult enough for any mother to suffer and endure. However, things took a turn for the worst when she was forced to return to work just 12 days after Eden was born!
This heartbreaking movie depicts how distraught and troubled this new mother is, unable to care for her newborn while trying to make ends meet.
Rebecca says in her video:
“You return to work 12 days after having a premature baby at 27 weeks, so you can spend what little maternity leave you have with her when she is eventually discharged from the NICU.”
“You try to pump every three hours at work, but they’re short-staffed.”
“At 8 weeks postpartum, your milk supply is dwindling.
“Will you have milk ready for her when she gets home?”
“How do other NICU parents deal with their children?” How can anyone afford to stay at home while in the NICU?
“How does one deal with guilt when they have to work and are unable to be with their child?”
As she tries to get on with her day at work, the utter trauma and sadness on Rebecca’s face is palpable. For moms, postpartum is a challenging time; it can range from sadness to decreased milk production, among other things. This young lady, on the other hand, did not give up.
Rebecca received incredible support from all across the world after her video went viral on TikTok, demonstrating the true power of social media. People asked whether they could give her money to help, and strangers, acquaintances, and people she’d never met chipped in to offer assistance in any way they could — a true display of empathy in the digital era.
She thanked her fans enthusiastically in her video, looking considerably less anxious and calm:
“It’s crazy to me that so many of you have expressed support, reached out, and donated. Taking on something like this is not something that generous people like you should be responsible for.
Jessica could finally hold her baby and be with her in the NICU after an extraordinarily difficult period as a first-time mother. She made a video to express her gratitude for everyone’s love and support. Eden may be seen resting soundly and making cute baby noises as her mother cradles her in her arms.
In her video, she wrote:
“TikTok… I won’t have to pick between being with my daughter in the NICU and paying the bills because of you. I am indebted to you in perpetuity.”
Eden is officially home after ten weeks in the NICU!
