New details released following deadly collision involving Texas City police officer

Additional details have been released following a deadly crash involving a Texas City police officer, according to the Texas City Police Department. Officer Joe Waggoner was responding to assist the La Marque Police Department when his patrol car collided with a white passenger car at the intersection of FM 1764 and FM 2004 in La Marque.
Emergency services attended the scene and transported two people from the white car to hospital.
Officer Waggoner sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital. Sadly, the driver of the white car, George Arness, passed away from his injuries, while a female passenger, Patricia Arness, was admitted to hospital.
Officer Waggoner is off work due to his injuries and will be placed on administrative duties when he returns pending investigations by the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office and the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office.
