Son and his girlfriend stabbed his father 70 times, shot his mom in the neck and head, in addition to 17 stab wounds to her upper body, and made his 11-year-old niece watch before they kidnapped her for ransom; sentenced

According to the court documents, the 43-year-old man, later identified as Curis, was sentenced to two consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole.

The defendant received an additional 404 to 532 months for the remaining charges. Prosecutors said Curis and his girlfriend, Nikia, killed Curis’ parents, Ruby and Curtis, and forced Curis’ 11-year-old niece to watch before they kidnapped the child for ransom.

Prosecutors said that Nikia was sentenced to 45-56 years behind bars. She was also ordered to serve a concurrent sentence of 80 to 108 months for robbery.

Curis and his girlfriend killed the elderly couple on March 30, 2017. Investigators revealed that he stabbed his own father 70 times. The couple reportedly went to his parents’ home after being evicted from their own residence earlier that day.

After an argument, Curis and Nikia killed his parents. Local news outlets reported that the 11-year-old niece, who was not identified due to her age, was forced to watch the killings. Nikia and Curis stayed in the home with the corpses for days. Several days later, they kidnapped the 11-year-old child and fled to a different state.

The incident came to light after firefighters were called to the house for a fire alarm. Curis’ mom suffered gunshot wounds to her neck and head, in addition to 17 stab or puncture wounds to her upper body. The district attorney’s office says Curis was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the murder charges, along with up to 532 months in prison for the remaining charges.
