State gas prices averages holding steady; downward trend possible

Gas stations across Texas are currently charging an average of $3.06 per gallon, according to AAA Texas.
This is the same price as last Thursday and 92 cents cheaper than this time last year.
Nationally, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $3.46, one cent lower than last week and 84 cents cheaper than a year ago.
Despite this, falling crude oil prices may provide some relief for drivers in the coming days, as prices have dropped to the mid-$60s from a peak of over $80 last week.
However, AAA Texas spokesperson Daniel Armbruster cautioned that while cheaper oil prices could lead to lower gas prices, the transition to more expensive summer blends could offset these savings.
