Staten Island man sought after girlfriend found in pool of blood, stabbed to death: ‘He was very violent’

The boyfriend of a 23-year-old mother-of-two is being sought for questioning after she was found stabbed multiple times in a pool of blood inside the Staten Island apartment they shared.
On Wednesday night, police were called to the couple’s home after witnesses heard screaming and arguing inside the second-floor Van Name Avenue apartment.
Evelin Barajas Perez was found dead with stab wounds to her neck, arms, and back. The crime weapon was recovered at the scene.
Neighbors said that Perez lived inside the apartment with her boyfriend, his brother, and the brother’s girlfriend.
They described the suspect as very abusive and violent to a point that made his brother’s girlfriend move out of the apartment.
“All the time since I met them, she would complain that he was very violent and abusive,” a neighbor and friend of the victim recalled.
“It seems like she was still in love with him.”
Perez leaves behind two sons, ages 6 and 5, living in Mexico with her family.
