Lawmakers in Texas are currently deliberating on a number of bills that have the potential to impact the transgender community.

One such bill, Senate Bill 14, could prohibit minors from receiving gender-affirming healthcare and revoke the licenses of doctors who aid in their transition by prescribing puberty blockers, hormone therapy, or other similar medical treatments.

Additionally, the bill would discourage public funding for hospitals that provide such care.

Another bill, Senate Bill 250, would prevent insurance companies from covering these treatments.

Recently, a rally was held at the state capitol by transgender Texans and their supporters while the bills were being discussed in a senate committee. If the bills are approved by the committee, they will proceed to a full senate vote.
