Toliver Craig allegedly killed his wife by poisoning her

A Colorado dentist has been arrested after being accused of poisoning and killing his wife.

James Toliver Craig, 45, was taken into custody on first-degree murder charges following his wife’s death.

The Aurora Police Department’s Major Crimes Homicide Unit launched an investigation into the woman’s death and determined that she had been poisoned.

Craig drove his wife, who was complaining of severe headaches and dizziness, to a hospital where her condition rapidly deteriorated.

She was eventually declared medically brain-dead, and doctors took her off life support before contacting the police because they believed her medical situation was suspicious.

“When the suspicious details of this case came to light, our team of officers and homicide detectives tirelessly worked to uncover the truth behind the victim’s sudden illness and death,” Division Chief Mark Hildebrand said in a statement.

“It was quickly discovered this was, in fact, a heinous, complex, and calculated murder. I am very proud of our Major Crimes Homicide Unit’s hard work in solving this case and pursuing justice for the victim.”

The incident remains under investigation, and the motive for the alleged poisoning is unclear. However, authorities believe that Craig carried out a “heinous, complex, and calculated murder.”

The case comes amid an increasing number of high-profile killings across the United States. In many of these cases, detectives have struggled to piece together a motive or identify the perpetrator.

While the circumstances surrounding Craig’s alleged crime are still unfolding, the case underscores the risks of domestic violence and how even those closest to us can be capable of unthinkable acts.

As the investigation continues, authorities are urging anyone who thinks they may be in danger to seek help immediately.

Domestic violence remains a significant issue, and oftentimes, it is up to friends, family, and community members to watch for warning signs and speak up on behalf of victims.
