Tomball native helps save man’s life at Houston Rodeo

During the Houston Rodeo, a man’s life was saved by a Texas A&M student who was part of the Junior Volunteer Committee in the health clinic.

Ryan Vu, who is studying Community Health, used his EMT and first-aid training to help a man who was experiencing seizure-like symptoms. He ran to grab an AED, which he had never used before, but remembered how to use it.

After performing compressions and using the AED, the man began breathing and was taken care of by local medics. Vu said that this experience has further prepared him for his life’s work, which he hopes will involve helping others.

He has not heard directly from the man or his family, but he hears that he is doing better. Vu has applied to the nursing program at Texas A&M.
