Victim of suspected Portland serial killer buried in mom’s wedding dress: ‘She was always smiling’

The grieving mother of one of six women found recently dead across Portland in mysterious circumstances offered her late daughter her own wedding dress to be buried in.

24-year-old Charity Perry was laid to rest Wednesday in her mother’s gown. The mom, Diana, said that Charity hoped that her separated parents will one day get back together.

“[It will be a closed casket] so I won’t be able to see her, but I can imagine my imagination will be prettier than the real picture,” Diana said.

“She was out there too long for me to be able to see her. The dress is from my wedding to her dad. She always wanted and thought we’d get back together, which would’ve been a bad thing.”

“But she was immature in her mindset,” the devastated mom added. “She thought that it would eventually happen and that everything in the world would be right again after that.”

Charity, who was homeless and struggling with drug addiction and schizophrenia, has last been at a hospital after a fentanyl overdose.

She vanished after the near-death experience last March. Her body was found on April 26 with no signs of trauma.

“But without the answers, your mind can run wild,” Diana said. “My biggest concern was violence and I know she didn’t die violently.”

Diana said that her daughter wanted to get a job and help her family and especially her younger brother whom she loved too much.

“No matter how sick she was, or how hard of a struggle she was having, she always thought she’d get a job and then be able to take care of me and her brother,” she said.

“She had a very innocent and kind soul when besides when her schizophrenia took hold; But, still, she was always smiling.”
