We’ve all been there – they get tangled, they’re difficult to put on the tree and trying to get them in the perfect position can often lead to an argument.
Luckily for us a savvy decorator has shared her top tip for putting lights on the Christmas tree that’s totally easy and fuss-free.
Mum Tamara Weatherbee often shares handy tips on TikTok, and this one is pefect to help people out on the run up to the festive season.
In the short clip, she said: “If you are still wrapping your lights all the way around and around your tree then this video is for you.
“This is a Christmas lights hack I learnt last year that has changed the way I put my lights on my tree.
“Start at the bottom – and instead of going around the bottom – go back and forth all the way up the tree.
“Then grab your next set of lights, and do the next section starting at the top, so you can plug the lights in together.
“This makes for an easy removal when Christmas is over.”
So, in a nutshell, the secret to a well-covered and fuss-free tree is to stop putting the lights around your tree.
By applying the lights in sections it helps to prevent tangling the lights when you’re applying them, as well as ensuring the lights will be easy to remove when the celebrations have come to an end.
Since Tamara shared the nifty trick, over 1,400 people have liked the video, and several people also shared their thoughts about the hack.
One person said: “I just put mine in the middle of the floor, and walk around.
“I don’t decorate the back though.”
Another added: “Never heard of it, but I love it.”
Meanwhile, a third commented: “I’ve been doing this for a few years – it makes life so much easier.
“I only put ornaments at the front where you can see them.”
