Chief Lopez Confirms Suspect in Officer-Involved Shooting Was Student

The Houston Independent School District Police Chief, Arturo Lopez, spoke out about the incident that occurred at Wisdom High School on Thursday. Chief Lopez confirmed that the suspect who ended up on campus was a student who had started his day there before leaving to allegedly participate in a robbery. The robbery led to an officer-involved shooting.

Chief Lopez provided more details on the incident, saying that the student was involved in a robbery at a nearby store. After the robbery, the student fled and was pursued by police officers. During the pursuit, shots were exchanged between the officers and the suspect, resulting in the student being shot. The student was then taken to the hospital for treatment.

Chief Lopez also noted that no other students were involved in the incident and that the school was placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure. He also thanked the officers for their quick response and for their bravery in the face of danger.

The incident is still under investigation, but Chief Lopez assured the public that the school is safe and that the student involved in the robbery is receiving medical attention. He also said that the school would be taking extra precautions to ensure the safety of their students in the future.
