Houston police announce arrests in Houston jugging that left woman paralyzed

Houston police have announced that two suspects are currently in custody in connection with a robbery that took place last month, leaving the victim, Nhung Truong, paralyzed. Joseph Harrell, 17, and Zy’Nika Ayesha Woods, 19, have both been charged with Aggravated Robbery with Serious Bodily Injury.
The incident occurred on the night of April 21, when Truong was walking to her car after finishing her shift at a local restaurant. According to reports, she was approached by two individuals who forcibly took her purse before shooting her twice in the back.
After being rushed to the hospital, doctors took measures to save Truong’s life, but unfortunately, she was left paralyzed as a result of the attack.
In the following weeks, Houston police launched an investigation into the incident, working tirelessly to identify and track down the two suspects responsible. Following extensive efforts, Harrell and Woods were both apprehended and charged with the crime.
Speaking about the arrest, Houston Police Chief Troy Finner expressed his gratitude to the investigators who worked on the case, saying, “Their work has led to the apprehension of two individuals responsible for a heinous crime. We will continue to do everything in our power to bring justice to the victims of crime in our city.”
The incident has also prompted concerns from members of the local community, who are calling for an increase in safety measures to be put in place along the city’s streets. Some have suggested the installation of additional lighting and CCTV cameras to enhance public safety.
Despite the trauma inflicted upon her, Truong has remained resolute, vowing to fight on and not allow the attack to define her life. In a statement, she said, “I will not let this hold me back. I will continue to fight and persevere, and I hope that justice will be served.”
The two suspects are expected to appear in court in the coming weeks, where they will face aggravated robbery charges with serious bodily injury. Houston police have urged anyone with information on the incident to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
