Florida Man Admits To Sexually Abusing A Woman On Home Confinement Who He Was Monitoring

A South Florida man who sexually abused a woman in home confinement under custody is headed to prison.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of Florida, Benito Montes de Oca Cruz, 60, of Miami-Dade County, pleaded guilty to charges of sexual abuse of a woman who was serving a 51-month sentence.

Court documents state that Cruz was a site supervisor for Riverside House, which conducts home visits to inmates being held to home confinement.

Riverside House, pursuant to a contract with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, is responsible for providing custodial, supervisory, and disciplinary oversight to federal inmates on home confinement.

According to the attorney’s office, Cruz admitted to engaging in sexually contact with and by the victim, including “sexually explicit touching of the victim while they were naked.”

After law enforcement was notified of the actions, they interviewed the victim. Also, video evidence was captured, and Cruz’s DNA was left behind.

Cruz is scheduled to be sentenced on April 14, 2023, before U.S. District Judge Robert N. Scola. He faces a up to two years in prison.
