Internet users worldwide condemned Edel, who later apologized on national television and claimed she had only pretended to call the authorities.

However, police records revealed the falsehood in Edel’s statement, further highlighting the severity of the situation. It was also uncovered that Edel was the CEO of Treat Well Health, a company specializing in marijuana-based pain relief products.

Edel’s controversial advocacy for using such products on dogs, unsupported by scientific evidence, added another layer to the controversy. She eventually resigned, leaving the public eye.
