South Carolina boy survives; grandfather dies saving him from drowning

The family of a 9-year-old South Carolina boy announced that he is in stable condition after nearly drowning on Tuesday.
The child survived thanks to his brave 70-year-old grandfather who jumped into the water when he spotted the boy struggling, police in Pawleys Island said.
Darrell Lambert died after being swept away by the current while trying to save his grandson at around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.
When first responders arrived at the scene on the Shell Road beach, they found Good Samaritans performing CPR on Lambert.
Authorities said that Lambert succumbed shortly later at Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital.
