Tragedy as Father expecting a baby goes off bridge, drowns hours before child’s birth

A Virginia father didn’t get to hold his newborn child after he went overboard while traveling on a Cape Charles Bay bridge on Thursday.
Hours before the birth of his third child, 36-year-old Christopher Scott drove a tractor-trailer off the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and drowned.
His body and the truck were recovered by a salvage crew on Friday afternoon.
“The thoughts and prayers of everyone at the CBBT are with the family and loved ones of Mr. Scott during this difficult time,” said Jeff Holland, the executive director of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel.
The victim’s mother revealed that her son’s girlfriend went into labor hours after the deadly incident and gave birth to his third child on Friday.
Police are still investigating the cause and circumstances surrounding the tragic crash.
