“Shadow banning” refers to the deliberate suppression of online content by a social media company to reduce its visibility and engagement. Lara Trump tweeted her frustration, asking Apple why her song doesn’t appear when searching for it. Eric Trump joined in, tweeting that Apple is “viscously [sic] shadow banning” Lara’s song.
Typically, users can easily find the latest release of a song on iTunes by typing its name into the search bar. However, in this case, Lara Trump’s cover is a version of Tom Petty’s popular song, “I Won’t Back Down,” which can make it more challenging to locate.
