The Gunners had looked comfortable after Reiss Nelson’s early goal but were put under pressure in the second half as the Bees chased a leveller.

Ramsdale made a number of fine saves, including one from Frank Onyeka in the dying minutes, to secure the win and keep Arsenal in the top four.

Bees boss Thomas Frank was frustrated with the result but praised his team’s performance.

“I hate losing so it’s always tough to take but very pleased with the performance,” he said.
“That is the thing we can build on.
“Good performance in the first half and excellent in the second half. I think Arsenal were very lucky to get away with this with the chances we created in the second half.”
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was relieved to have come away with the win.
“It was a tough game, especially in the second half when they put a lot of pressure on us,” he said.
“We had to defend really well and Aaron Ramsdale made some great saves.
“We’re really happy with the three points.”
